HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Montclair Prep Coasts Past Coastal Christian

Montclair Prep guard Akil Anderson had 11 points, 10 assists and eight steals in the host Mounties’ 87-30 victory over Coastal Christian (9-10) in a nonleague game Saturday.

Montclair Prep built a 26-4 lead in the first quarter. Carlos Roubicek added 11 points and 14 rebounds for Montclair Prep (18-3).

South Bay Lutheran 59, First Lutheran 56--Jamahal Law scored 14 points and James Griffin had 11 rebounds, but First Lutheran (11-3, 4-2) fell to South Bay Lutheran (13-2, 5-1) in a Heritage League game at San Fernando Park.

GIRLS

First Lutheran 60, South Bay Lutheran 48--Krista Stark had 36 points, 10 assists, 10 rebounds and six steals for First Lutheran (7-5, 4-2) in a Heritage League game at San Fernando Park.

Sacred Heart 63, Harvard-Westlake 51--Corrie Roberts scored 14 points and freshman forward Michelle Wong had 10 but the Wolverines (4-10, 0-5) lost a Mission League game.

Montclair Prep 36, Coastal Christian 25--Sarah Trankem had 10 points for the Mounties (9-4) in a nonleague game at Montclair Prep.

Chaminade 56, Louisville 48--Shawnte Mitchell made two free throws with four seconds left to send the game into overtime, and Chaminade (10-6, 3-1) outscored the Royals, 10-2.

Mitchell had 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Karen Knokey added 13 points and 12 rebounds. Becky Witt had 23 points for Louisville (8-9, 2-3).

Providence 44, Yeshiva 10--The Pioneers outscored Yeshiva, 12-0, in the first quarter of the Liberty League game at Providence.

Caroline Vanderberg scored nine points and Jill Vander Borght added eight for the Pioneers (5-3, 3-2).
