Danny Fortson scored a season-high 34 points as No. 6 Cincinnati used its front-line advantage to beat Miami of Ohio, 91-61, Friday night for its ninth consecutive victory.

Cincinnati (11-2) took control near the end of the first half with a 21-4 run that revolved around its 6-foot-7, 260-pound power forward. Fortson scored 20 points in the second half to help the Bearcats pull away.

Miami (7-3) couldn’t figure out how to stop Fortson and couldn’t make its shots, a combination that resulted in its fourth consecutive loss to Cincinnati. The Redskins shot 31% from the field and were led by Devin Davis’ 17 points.

Cincinnati had one huge advantage--Miami had no one who could handle Fortson. He scored the first seven points for Cincinnati, which held a 43-29 lead at halftime.

Miami stayed with Cincinnati for the first nine minutes. There were six ties and seven lead changes, with Cincinnati going ahead by as many as five points while Miami led by as many as four.

The tempo quickly caught up with Miami, which has much less depth than Cincinnati and started wearing down.
