What’s the Moral of Albert Story?

NBC is saying it won’t comment on Marv Albert’s status with the network until his sexual assault trial has ended.

However, The Times has acquired a copy of the morals clause standard in all NBC contracts, and it doesn’t look good for Albert.

The clause reads:

“If at any time your personal conduct with respect to what is generally considered public morals, either while rendering services or in your public life, is without due regard to the best interests of NBC and any sponsor or licensee of the programs to which you are assigned or to social conventions or public morals or decency, or if you commit any act or become involved in any situation or occurrence degrading you in society or bringing you into public disrepute, contempt, scandal or ridicule, or which shocks, insults, or offends the community . . . or if publicity is given to any such conduct, commission, or involvement on your part . . . NBC shall have the right to terminate this agreement.”
