Powerwave Technologies Inc.: The Irvine supplier of amplifiers for wireless communications networks reported a fourth-quarter net loss of $7.2 million, or 42 cents a share, which included a onetime charge of $12.4 million related to Powerwave’s acquisition of Hewlett-Packard Co.’s RF power amplifier business. Net income for the fourth quarter of the prior fiscal year totaled $5.3 million, or 29 cents a share. Sales for the quarter ended Jan. 3 rose 6% to a record $40 million from $37.8 million.

For the year, the company lost $3 million, or 17 cents a share, contrasted with profit of $16.2 million, or 92 cents a share, the previous year. Sales declined 16% to $100.2 million from $119.7 million.
