Limn brings an organic slate to L.A.

Limn, regarded by many as San Francisco’s top contemporary furniture showroom, quietly opened its first L.A. outpost with a new collection of entryway pieces called the Poetry of Arrival by Pieter VanTuyl. The firm calls its handcrafted work “organic modernism,” and the line includes a stone bench made from foundation slabs from a 190-year-old barn, a carved bench decorated with molten beeswax, and walnut-handled Shaker-style brooms produced at Berea College Crafts in Kentucky. The Slate Table by design director Tod Babick has a softly honed Vermont green slate top and hand-carved fruit and seeds; it sits on forged legs that resemble roots (shown here, $8,700). 169 N.
