A good story for hard times

Re “An American success story,” Column, Aug. 31

Reading George Skelton’s Capitol Journal column is like having a Popsicle on a hot summer day. It is a refreshing change to read a story that has a happy ending, among all the negativity that floods every media outlet.

As a struggling college student, it is encouraging to know that even when the odds are against me, hard work, dedication and a little luck can go a long way.

Frank Fat’s story is the kind of silver lining I’m looking for during these trying times of high unemployment rates and budget cuts.
