The judge presiding over the infringement case between Apple Inc. and Samsung Electronics Co. spotted two inconsistencies in the jury’s pro-Apple verdict and asked the nine-member jury to return to the deliberation room to reconsider the issues.

At stake is $219,000 in damages relating to the Samsung Galaxy Tab and $2.5 million involving the Samsung Intercept.

U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh gave the verdict form back to the jurors and asked them to make changes in red ink.

The jurors, not keen on the idea of returning to court Monday, said they would prefer to continue deliberations tonight to iron out the discrepancies.

This afternoon, the federal jury sided with Apple over rival Samsung in the mammoth patent-infringement trial and awarded Apple more than $1 billion in damages.

The nine-member jury accepted most of Apple’s claims that Samsung copied the look and feel of its iPhone to roll out its own line of smartphones.
