Time for some new characters at Ed Asner’s onetime home in Studio City

When actor Ed Asner’s longtime home in Studio City sold two years ago, we couldn’t help but liken it to a warm fuzzy.

Now the gated house is back on the market and, although the current sellers have extensively repainted, the quaint character of the 1954 single-story ranch still shines through. The asking price this time around is $1.799 million.

The 2,800-square-foot house, which last sold for $1.306 million, retains such charm points as used brick, vaulted ceilings and French doors. Asner bought the house in 1996 for $540,000.

Living, dining and family rooms, an updated kitchen, a breakfast area, a den, three bedrooms and three bathrooms are among the interior spaces. There are three fireplaces, including one in the master suite, which also has a sitting area and two walk-in closets.

Brick steps off the back of the home connect to a patio and a swimming pool area. Garages at the front and back of the house can accommodate three cars.

Asner, 85, is a past president of the Screen Actors Guild. The seven-time Emmy winner played Lou Grant in the 1970s sitcom “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and in the spinoff newspaper drama. The busy actor is working on numerous films this year including “Joe’s War,” “Love Meet Hope” and the Western “Boonville Redemption.”

Francis Tim Hyde III and Therese Hyde, both with Coldwell Banker, are the listing agents.
