Former L.A. Clipper Kenyon Martin was the buyer willing to play ball for the Calabasas home sold last month by former Minnesota Twins outfielder Jason Kubel for $2.8 million.

Set within a gated community, the Tuscan-inspired home was customized by Kubel during his ownership and features a putting green, a sunken trampoline and a fenced batting cage with a pitching machine.

The single-story house has a rotunda entry, formal rooms with beamed ceilings, an atrium and a chef’s kitchen with two islands. A home theater is outfitted with paneled walls and stadium seating.

The master suite has one of three fireplaces, a walk-in closet and an oversized rain shower. There’s also a separate guest house for a total of five bedrooms and five bathrooms in nearly 5,700 square feet of space.

Outdoors, the acre-plus grounds centers on a resort-style swimming pool complete with a beach entry, a riased spa, a water slide and waterfall features. A fire pit, a built-in barbecue, raised garden beds and lawns complete the setting.

Michael Preis of RE/MAX Olson & Associates was the listing agent. Howard Zuckerman of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices represented the buyer.

Martin, 38, earned National Player of the Year honors in 2000 and was selected No.1 overall by the New Jersey Nets that same year. He played for five NBA teams across 15 seasons, making one all-star team in 2004.

He retired from basketball last year.

The 34-year-old Kubel has ties to Southern California, having starred at Highland High in Palmdale. The outfielder and first baseman was drafted out of high school by Minnesota in 2000 and played 10 seasons for the Twins, Arizona Diamondbacks and Cleveland Indians.
