Local basketball star and NBA league executive Kiki VanDeWeghe and his wife, designer Peggy VanDeWeghe, have put their house in Encino on the market at $4.95 million.

The couple bought the property six years ago for $2.25 million and created a vibrant living space featuring monochromatic notes, vibrant wall coverings and modern fixtures. Wood and stone details and a range of exotic and vintage pieces contribute to a classic yet colorful ambiance.

Entered through a gated courtyard, the updated Midcentury home has tempered-glass front doors that open to 5,773 square feet on a single story.

Inside, eye-catching details include a subdued dining room with vaulted ceilings and built-in wet bar/wine bar, and a living room with a 23-foot stone alcove. The stonework continues in the den, surrounding a wall fireplace with a vintage hood.

In the chef’s kitchen, white cabinetry and two black-hued and marble-topped islands pair to give the space a more traditional look.

The master suite, with a separate sitting room and a Moorish-inspired bath, is among the five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Sliding glass doors open to grounds filled with various entertainment spaces, fruit trees, a Zen garden and a saltwater swimming pool. A light tennis court runs north to south to complete the setting.

Dana Olmes and Jeff Biebuyck of Ewing Sotheby’s International Realty hold the listing.

VanDeWeghe, 57, is no stranger to Southern California having attended UCLA and, before that, Palisades Charter High School in Pacific Palisades.

He made two all-star teams in 13 professional seasons and has held front-office roles with the Denver Nuggets and New Jersey Nets, now known as the Brooklyn Nets. He was promoted to executive vice president of basketball operations for the NBA last year.
