Professional footballer and L.A. Galaxy captain Robbie Keane and his wife, former Miss Ireland Claudine Keane, have leased a home in Beverly Hills for $27,000 a month.

Sitting on more than half an acre in the Trousdale Estates area, the flat-roofed Midcentury was formerly owned by late Emmy-winning lyricist and composer Ray Charles. Charles, who worked with Perry Como for three decades and was known as the ‘other Ray Charles’, died last year at age 96.

Following his death, the property came up for sale at $5.5 million and eventually sold for $7.02 million — $1.52 million over the asking price.

Recently rebuilt from the ground up, the single-story house has a contemporary vibe with polished concrete floors, recessed lighting and floor-to-ceiling windows. Open-plan living areas have sliding glass doors that open to a swimming pool.

Brent Watson of Compass was the listing agent.

Keane, 36, serves as team captain for the Galaxy and Ireland’s national team. The forward was the MLS most valuable player two seasons ago and has 79 goals in 117 games with the Galaxy since joining the team in 2011.
