Singer-songwriter and composer Rufus Wainwright has bought a home in Hollywood Hills West for $1.45 million.

The 1920s home, set amid mature trees and lush landscaping, has such fanciful details as a brick façade, picture windows with diamond grilles and a steep stairway that leads up to the front door.

The storybook ambiance continues indoors in the step-down living room, which boasts rolled ceilings, exposed beams and a fireplace with a brick surround. An updated kitchen, a breakfast nook, a dining room, a circular office/den, three bedrooms and three bathrooms are also within more than 2,100 square feet of living space.

Outdoors, a whimsical bridge crosses over a pond to one of two patio spaces. Views from the property take in the surrounding treetops and mountains.

On and off the market for the better part of two years, the house was most recently listed for $1.499 million, records show.

Anita Rich of Keller Williams represented the buyer and the seller, according to the Multiple Listing Service.

The Canadian-born Wainwright, 43, has released live and studio albums including the Grammy-nominated record “Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall.” This year he released “Take All My Loves: 9 Shakespeare Sonnets,” a tribute album commemorating the 400th anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death.
