HTC One smartphone heading to Verizon this summer

The HTC One will be available on all four major U.S. networks later this summer after Verizon Wireless announced it too will carry the popular Android smartphone.

The device has been available for AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile customers since launching in late April. Verizon customers, meanwhile, had been left out, but that will soon change, according to a tweet sent out Monday morning by the carrier.

Neither Verizon nor HTC gave out more details, such as pricing or an exact date.

The HTC One has done well so far, selling 5 million units worldwide, but that’s half of the Galaxy S 4 smartphones that Samsung has sold. That phone is available on all four carriers.

Launching on Verizon should give the phone a boost in sales. The device will also get a push later this month when a Google version of the device launches June 26. That version of the device will come with an unaltered version of the Android operating system and will be available online unlocked for $599.
