Disney shakes up ABC Studios unit

Barry Jossen is exiting as the head of ABC Studios, which is the television production arm and largest supplier of programming for ABC.

Replacing Jossen is Patrick Moran, most recently the senior vice president of development for ABC Studios. The restructuring was done by Paul Lee, president of the ABC Entertainment Group.

The moves come in the wake of ABC finishing in third place in viewers and fourth place among the crucial adults 18-49 demographic. The only new shows from the 2012-13 season that the network brought back for this fall were the drama “Nashville” and the offbeat comedy “The Neighbors.”

In addition to Moran, Chaning Dungy, who was senior vice president of drama development, and Samie Falvey, senior vice president of comedy development, were both promoted to executive vice presidents.
