Emma Roberts -- niece of Julia Roberts and daughter of Eric Roberts -- was arrested recently in a Montreal hotel on suspicion of domestic violence.

The 22-year-old actress was taken into custody July 7 after another hotel guest called police to report a fight in the hotel room she was sharing with boyfriend Evan Peters, TMZ reported Tuesday.

Though Peters had a bloody nose, according to a website source, he did not want to press charges, and Roberts was questioned and released after several hours. Sources close to Roberts told the site that the two were hitting each other, but that she got nabbed because Peters was clearly injured.

“It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding,” reps for the two actors said in a joint statement obtained by Us Weekly. “Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it.”

The couple have been dating since early 2012.

Peters, 26, and Roberts will appear together in the season premiere of “American Horror Story,” to air in October. Peters has starred in the show’s first two seasons, playing Kit Walker and Tate Langdon. Roberts will appear as a self-involved party girl named Madison.
