Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr announced last week they had separated after three years of marriage, and “The Hobbit” actor is touching upon the results of their seemingly amicable split.

“We love each other. We’re a family,” Bloom said on “Katie” in an interview airing Friday. “We’re going to be in each other’s lives for the rest of our lives. There’s no question, for the sake of our son and everything else, we’re going to support one another and love each other as parents to Flynn.”

The British actor, 36, and Aussie supermodel, 30, married in July 2010. Kerr gave birth to their first child, a son named Flynn, on Jan. 6, 2011.

“Life sometimes doesn’t work out exactly as we plan or hope for, but fortunately, we’re both adults,” Bloom continued. “I’m 36 now, she’s 30, and we’re professionals, and we love and care about each other, and we most of all love our son.”

The comely couple announced on Oct. 24 via E! News that they had split.

“They have been amicably separated for the past few months,” they said in a joint statement. “After six years together, they have recently decided to formalize their separation. Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family.”

TMZ caught up with the actor that day and he spoke fondly of his wife.

“We’re family. We’re not friends. We’re family,” he told the site, though he wouldn’t reveal the reason for the split, simply saying, “Life’s a mystery. Things don’t always work out the way you want them.”

That seems to be the case, according to the New York Daily News, which obtained photos of the couple strolling together in Central Park on Saturday, just after news of the split broke.

Bloom, who is starring in the Broadway revival of “Romeo & Juliet,” was seen walking arm in arm with Kerr as they left Amaranth restaurant in Manhattan and he later gave her a friendly kiss, the newspaper said.
