The death of Paul Walker in a car crash Saturday at age 40 marks a tragic end to the life of a man who brought innumerable people pleasure as rogue former cop Brian O’Conner in the street-racing “Fast and Furious” pictures.

In tribute, here are five of his more memorable moments from that franchise.

The Chase: (“Fast & Furious”): As Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and O’Conner try to track down a Mexican criminal kingpin, they wind up in border tunnels fleeing a group of the kingpin’s officers. As the two elude their pursuers, the pair’s chemistry and the franchise’s signature action are thrown perfectly into relief. A little old-fashioned bromance was never this heart-palpitating.

The Auto Jump (“2 Fast 2 Furious”): Walker’s O’Conner is in a Yenko Camaro when he sees a drug-lord villain getting away, so he jumps the car onto ... a yacht, “Knight Rider”-style. Did we mention the boat was moving? Rescued in the operation: Eva Mendes, an added bonus.

The Human Jump (“Fast Five”): O’Conner is with the gang in Rio when his truck crashes into a train on which the group is trying pull a heist. Toretto drives alongside the train, and O’Conner makes a death-defying leap into the vehicle.

And speaking of Rio (“Fast Five”): Dom and Brian, with their loot in tow, down in Brazil. Now the franchise got golden.

The Race (“The Fast and the Furious”): The big finish that started it all, as Toretto and O’Conner go white-knuckle, all-out mano-a-mano in the first film’s final race, jumping train tracks and numerous other obstacles in the process. (You can relive the moment with the clip above.) Movies had car chases before, and it had finales, but it never had a car-chase finale like this.
