Mischa Barton to be face of BritWeek Robertson shopping stroll

Actress Mischa Barton has been named celebrity ambassador for the 2014 BritWeek Robertson Shopping Stroll on Saturday.

This is the second year for the shopping event on Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles. Participants include luxury venues such as Chanel, Tommy Hilfiger, Paul & Joe, Tory Burch and Michael Kors, as well as British stores Anya Hindmarch, Ted Baker, Reiss, Joseph and All Saints.

The retailers plan to offer special discounts, fashion presentations and promotions during the daylong event, which is sponsored by SoCal Mini Dealers.

BritWeek is is a nonprofit organization that puts on programs each spring to promote British creativity across multiple categories, including fashion, design, retail, music, the arts and more.

Events

Style expert Jennifer Chan will host a spring fashion event put on by M dot Design Studio in the W in Westwood from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The event will showcase M dot’s travel line, a selection of jewelry, leather purses from Costello Handbags, gifts and mini-massages from Bliss spa. DJ Junkyard will provide music. The W is at 930 Hilgard Ave. in Westwood.

Select Nordstom stores across the nation are hosting beauty events this Friday and Saturday featuring one-on-one consultations with the store’s beauty experts. There will be free samples and gift-with-purchase offers. Southern California Nordstrom stores that plan to participate include those in Montclair, Santa Ana and Canoga Park.

Trunk shows

Movimento, a women’s streetwear line from dancer and celebrity fitness trainer Whitney Shannon, will be featured in a trunk show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at Oak Fitness, 9346 Civic Center Drive, No. 145, Beverly Hills. (This is on the first floor of United Talent Agency.) The line, manufactured in downtown L.A., is designed to take women from workout to the street.

Co-op 28 at 1728-1730 N. Vermont Ave. in Los Feliz is planning two Mother’s Day-themed trunk shows. The first is scheduled from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, featuring organic, vegan beauty products from Los Angeles line Justine-Cana. The line’s founders, Carla Farra and Timon Cana, will offer makeup and hair demonstrations and free product samples. The second show is sheduled from noon to 5 p.m. May 3 and will feature handcrafted jewelry from Amanda K Lockrow, Porterness and Solstice Ltd. Champagne and treats are to be served.

Warehouse and sample sales

Black Halo has scheduled a sample sale from noon to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at 648 Mateo St., Los Angeles. Cash and credit cards only.

Rachel Pally plans a warehouse sale beginning Friday and featuring items from its contemporary collection and White Label styles from the 2014 resort collection for up to 85% off retail. Sizes range from XS to 3X. The sale will be at 201 S. Anderson St., Los Angeles (entrance on Azusa between Anderson and Mission). Sale times are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 3 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 4. Cash, Visa and Mastercard only.

Trina Turk has a sample sale including women’s wear, Mr. Turk menswear and residential item starting at $20. The sale is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Trina Turk boutique, 8008 W. 3rd St., Los Angeles.

Ted Baker London plans to open its first California outlet store on Thursday at Desert Hills Premium Outlets in Cabazon. For opening weekend the lifestyle store (which features men’s and women’s apparel) is offering gift-with-purchase and other promotions, plus complimentary refreshments. There’s also the chance to enter a drawing for a $500 shopping spree.
