It’s half an hour into the SAG Awards pre-show and the red carpet fashion has yet to really impress.

Two early arrivals are wearing fairytale Marchesa gowns: Elisabeth Rohm in a blush lace column gown with all-over crystal and 3-D silk-chiffon flower detail on sleeves, neckline and skirt, and “New Girl” actress Hannah Simone in a pale “duck-egg” gray draped tulle gown with shirred full skirt, cinched waist and handmade silk-organza tulle and feather flowered neckline.

On the other end of the spectrum, the modern, black/white color-blocking trend is making a showing.

Michelle Dockery is in a J. Mendel black column gown with a V-front trimmed in white. “It’s like a tuxedo but a dress,” she told E! Entertainment Television. Also working the black/white look is Anna Chlumsky in Sophie Theallet.

It’s a balmy 83 degrees in L.A. (E! host Kelly Osbourne copped to wearing flip-flops under her Zac Posen gown.) Maybe it’s so hot people don’t want to walk the walk?
