Julianne Moore, who usually kills it on the red carpet, barely wounded it at the SAG Awards, which are underwhelming in the fashion department so far.

Moore went with Givenchy again, as she did at the Golden Globes, but the gown she chose for tonight’s ceremony is a simple, emerald green tank style with all-over beaded embroidery. I love green on a redhead, but this dress just doesn’t have that extra oomph we usually see from Moore (and from Givenchy).

Julianna Margulies is also usually very consistent on the red carpet, but her electric blue Giambattista Valli gown is not right for her. The color doesn’t flatter, and there’s too much draping going on in front and back. She’s much better in streamlined styles by Narciso Rodriguez and others.

Speaking of Rodriguez, Julia Louis-Dreyfus could have used his modern touch too. The “Veep” actress usually goes with modern silhouettes, but for the SAG Awards, she’s chosen a black gown by Monique Lhuillier with heavy-looking long lace sleeves that looks almost dowdy.

So far, a pregnant Keira Knightley is my favorite in a glorious plum-colored tiered lace Erdem gown. At last, something to get excited about!
