“Gilmore Girls” and “Parenthood” star Lauren Graham is writing a TV pilot based on her book “Someday, Someday, Maybe.”

The ever-likable actress is writing the TV adaptation of her book about a struggling actress for the CW -- something of a return to the network whose relationship with Graham goes back to her leading role on “Gilmore Girls.”

Graham will also be executive producing the series along with friend Ellen DeGeneres, who optioned the book through her A Very Good Production banner.

The bestselling novel, which Graham has stressed is not autobiographical, follows a twentysomething actress named Franny Banks in the six months before she has to make real progress on her dream of an acting career.

“I was more interested in the waiting, auditioning ... and the feeling when you’re on the outside of something looking in,” Graham told the Christian Science Monitor in an interview during the book’s release.

And Franny Banks’ story may not end with one book: Graham’s publisher has asked her for a second book, and she said she’s thinking about a sequel.

She even made a joke about the TV adaptation: “To me it would be a compelling TV show because it lends itself to that serialization ... and Mae Whitman will star as Franny Banks ... after she’s done playing my daughter on ‘Parenthood.’”
