Double-dipping -- it’s the gravest of party fouls. Well, if you don’t count passing out on someone’s front lawn, breaking a window or accidentally knocking over an entire bottle of liquor. But, it’s up there with the worst things you can do. Dip once, you’re good. Dip twice, you get the boot.

But if you’ve ever been at a party and thought you could sneak in a double-dip, you’re not alone. In honor of National Chip and Dip Day, which happens to be Saturday, Tostitos commissioned Ketchum communications agency to conduct a survey about double-dipping. More than 1,000 Americans were asked about their chip-dipping habits.

According to the survey, 32% of women admitted to double-dipping at a party, while 46% of men said they double-dipped. Dudes, what’s up with that?

Watching someone double-dip, then dipping after them is another story. Of the people surveyed, 54% said they would not dip after watching another partygoer double-dip, while 22% said they didn’t care. A word to that 22%: gross.

After seeing someone double-dip, only 25% of the people surveyed said they would speak up and call the fellow partygoer out on their party foul. No one wants to be a party pooper, but as soon as that bowl of queso turns into a bowl of saliva, someone, please, say something!

There are so many ways to get around double-dipping. Got a big chip? Break it in half, then dig in. Getting the right ratio of dip to chip is important, just dip wisely and keep that salsa spit-free.
