Name of restaurant: Girasol (Spanish for sunflower) is the new Studio City restaurant by Top Chef alum C.J. Jacobson.

Chef: Jacobson (who did a stint at world-famous Noma in Copenhagen) showcases California cuisine by sourcing local purveyors and farmers daily.

What dish represents the restaurant, and why? The whole-fried red snapper with crispy greens, fermented Fresno chile sauce of kumquat, sorrel and citrus. Like the restaurant, it’s both rustic and refined.

Vegetarian? Then go straight for the seasoned raw summer squashes with English pea puree, green olive, peas and herbs.

Concept: Approachable, farmers-market-driven, hyper-seasonal cuisine. Choose from shared plates, entrées and sides. If it’s not too hot out, ask for a table on the patio.

Who’s at the next table? A young couple on a possible first date, a TV star and her husband, Top Chef fans.

Appropriate for...: Couples, small groups, solo diners at the bar, alfresco dining, both vegetarians and meat-lovers.

Uh-oh...: Wine and beer only, although cocktails and brunch are both in the works.

Service: Friendly and helpful.

What are you drinking? Mionetto Prosecco.
