‘In Bocca’ at Little Dom’s, black truffles, Cheeseburger Week and more

Little Dom’s “In Bocca” dinners: Chef Brandon Boudet of Little Dom’s pays tribute to the “In Bocca” cookbooks, an out-of-print collection highlighting Italy’s regional cuisines, with a dinner series beginning this evening. Tonight’s a la carte menu is inspired by the “In Bocca Milano” edition printed in 1976, and features dishes such as spinach croquettes, saffron risotto and prosciuttini di pollo. Truffle time: Starting on Feb. 7, Saam at the Bazaar will be offering a black truffle dinner on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through March 2. Chef Jose Andres and team will prepare a 16-course menu spotlighting black truffles foraged by Truffle Brothers Michael and Marco Pietroiacovo. Eat to give: Chef Niki Nakayama of n/naka, a traditional Japanese restaurant on Overland Avenue, will be hosting a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society over the course of three consecutive Sundays, starting on Jan. 27. Each event will feature a five-course menu for $55 per person with wine pairings available for an additional $30 per person. Pasadena Cheeseburger Week: From Jan. 13 to 18, Pasadena will be celebrating the birth of the cheeseburger, a creation credited to Lionel Sternberger who, legend has it, first introduced a slice of cheese to the hamburger at Rite Spot on Colorado Boulevard in the mid-1920s. Pasadena’s Cheeseburger Week will feature a cheeseburger crawl and cheeseburger challenge to put Pasadena’s cheeseburgers to the test.
