Food Bowl 2024: Mariscos Jalisco is The Times’ Gold Award winner

Raul Ortega popularized shrimp tacos in Los Angeles and has been the bridge between classic food trucks and a new generation of street food vendors.

Raul Ortega, owner of the food truck Mariscos Jalisco, is the winner of the 2024 Los Angeles Times Gold Award. Ortega talks about what the truck brings to Los Angeles, why people love his shrimp tacos and what the food means to him. The 2024 Gold Award will be presented to Mariscos Jalisco’s Raul Ortega on Sept. 20 at this year’s Food Bowl festival at Paramount Studios. Tickets are available at at lafoodbowl.com.
