A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the beating of a transgender woman in May on Hollywood Boulevard, police said Wednesday night.

The Los Angeles Police Department said that a male suspect had been taken into custody on suspicion of taking part in the early morning attack on May 31 near Vine Street.

No other details on the arrest were immediately available.

Detectives have said four men were involved in the beating of the woman identified by authorities as Vivian.

In video surveillance footage released by police, a man appears to assault the woman from behind, knocking her to the sidewalk. Three other men can then be seen joining the attack, kicking the victim repeatedly as she lies motionless, according to the video footage.

The woman suffered broken bones and internal injuries and spent a week in the hospital, police said.

A 21-year-old man was arrested in June on suspicion of felony battery in connection with the incident. He was apprehended after police announced a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the men they believe responsible for the assault, which took place about 2:15 a.m.

The LAPD said it is likely the attack was witnessed by people walking or driving nearby. The LAPD Hollywood Area major assault crime detectives said they need the public’s assistance in identifying the attackers.

LAPD investigators have set up a special email account, [email protected], for anyone to contact them or provide information.

In addition, anyone with information about the attack can contact LAPD’s Hollywood Area Detective Division at (213) 972-2967 or (877) LAPD-24-7 during non-business hours or weekends.
