A body found last week at a Manhattan Beach park has been identified as that of a Long Beach man, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Tuesday.

The body of Mario Herrera, 21, was found about 3:30 p.m. Thursday near a baseball diamond in the 1500 block of North Peck Avenue.

City workers discovered the victim wrapped in a bag while they were moving a pile of dirt, authorities said last week.

An autopsy was conducted but the cause of death is still undetermined, the sheriff’s department said in a statement Tuesday afternoon.
