Robert Kardashian Jr. pleaded not guilty Wednesday to misdemeanor battery and petty theft for allegedly hitting a photographer in Beverly Hills and removing a digital media card from her camera.

Los Angeles County prosecutors charged Kardashian on Friday in the misdemeanor complaint.

Kardashian, who was with his attorney Robert Shapiro, appeared in the Beverly Hills courtroom of L.A. County Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel.

Over prosecutors’ objections, Revel allowed Kardashion to remain free on his own recognizance. The L.A. County district attorney’s office had asked that bail be set at $21,000.

The case grew out of a confrontation between Kadarshian, son of media personality and Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner and the late Robert Kardashian, a friend and an attorney of O.J. Simpson.

The photographer, identified as Kassandra Perez, allegedly followed Kardashian from his gym near La Cienega Boulevard and Melrose Avenue to a commercial parking structure.

There, Kardashian allegedly grabbed Perez’s camera and removed the media card. During the struggle over the camera, authorities said, Kardashian struck her in the face.
