Three suspects are in custody after a man was shot and killed in South Los Angeles early Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. in the area around the intersection of Normandie Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard, said LAPD Sgt. Carlton Brown.

LAPD Capt. Darnell Davenport told KTLA-TV that officers responded after receiving reports of a man with a gun.

“They responded to that intersection. Saw the man with a gun and actually saw the suspects firing rounds at the victim. At which time the victim went down,” Davenport told the TV station.

The three suspects then fled, leading police on a pursuit through the neighborhood, Davenport said.

The chase ended after their vehicle crashed into a telephone pole in the 1100 block of West 47th Street, police said.
