Deputies received a report of an assault about 9:21 a.m. and arrived to find Agnew-Toland in one room and the unidentified victim bound and lying on the floor of another room.

Her mouth, hands and feet were bound with duct tape, according to the Sheriff’s Department. The victim had been beaten and raped for hours, deputies said.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Agnew-Toland knew the victim’s family, the Sheriff’s Department said.

He had recently contacted the victim and asked if he could sleep the night at her home after moving back to town, authorities said.
