Two men shot outside Hollywood restaurant

Two men who were shot outside the Bossa Nova restaurant in Hollywood on Sunday were expected to survive, police said.

The men, who were not identified, were wounded when gunfire rang out at about 4:20 a.m. in front of the restaurant in the 7100 block of West Sunset Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Witnesses told KTLA-TV the trouble started when a fight broke out and someone pulled out a gun.

The two men who suffered gunshot wounds were taken to area hospitals. Both were expected to survive, police said.

Sunset Boulevard was closed at La Brea Avenue for about four hours while police investigated the shooting.

Over the last week, there have been nine violent crimes reported in the Hollywood area, most of them robberies or assaults, according to the L.A. Times crime mapping database.

Anyone with information about the shooting on Sunday was asked to contact the LAPD.
