Two women and a teenager were found dead in a house in Rancho Santa Fe on Monday after a report of child abuse, San Diego County Sheriff's Department homicide investigators said.

A friend of one of the victims called the Sheriff’s Department about a possible child abuse incident at the house on Via de la Valle near Paseo Delicias just before noon, homicide Lt. Kenn Nelson said.

Deputies went to the home and knocked on the front door, but no one answered. They walked around the property, and a deputy looking through a window saw a woman on the floor.

The deputies forced open the front door and found the bodies of another woman and a girl on the floor. The three bodies showed signs of trauma, Nelson said. Medics arrived and confirmed the deaths.

None of the victims was identified. The Medical Examiner's Office will determine how they died.

Nelson said there were no outstanding suspects and declined to say whether the deaths were being investigated as a murder-suicide.

Detectives and technicians were awaiting a search warrant to go back inside the house to investigate further.

Nelson said investigators had not determined a motive or the relationship between the victims. At least one of them lived in the house, which is just east of Rancho Santa Fe's small commercial area.
