Woman killed in fiery crash near MacArthur Park in Westlake

A woman was killed when she lost control of her vehicle, which hit a light pole and a building, overturned, caught fire and hit several parked cars in Westlake early Saturday morning, authorities said.

The crash occurred near MacArthur Park in the area of 7th and South Lake streets about 2 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Brittany Baker, 26, of Los Angeles, was traveling westbound on 7th when she lost control of her vehicle and struck the light pole, crashed into a building and struck a parked truck, authorities said. This caused her vehicle to overturn and come to rest on a second vehicle.

Officers already in the area saw smoke coming from the vehicle and pulled the woman from it before it became engulfed in flames, authorities said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they are still investigating the cause of the crash.
