SAN ANTONIO — Lakers reserve center-forward Jordan Hill has been cleared to play, the team said Wednesday.

It’s somewhat surprising, given the fact the Lakers initially said he would be out for the entire season after undergoing hip surgery in January. More recently, he was deemed out until at least the second round of the playoffs.

Hill has not played since Jan. 6. He is averaging 6.7 points and 5.7 rebounds in his second season with the Lakers.

He has taken part in some recent practices but mostly without contact. It was unclear how much action he would get, if any, when the Lakers play San Antonio on Wednesday night. The Lakers trail the series, 1-0.
