Former Steelers coach Chuck Noll dies at 82

Chuck Noll, who coached the Pittsburgh Steelers to four Super Bowl victories, died Friday at his home in Sewickley, Pa. He was 82.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Noll’s wife, Marianne, found him unresponsive at 9:45 p.m. ET and called 911. Paramedics pronounced Noll dead 10 minutes later.

Noll reportedly had been under doctor’s care for an undisclosed illness.

A cornerstone of one of the most successful dynasties in sports, Noll coached the Steelers for 23 seasons, from 1969-91, collecting four Super Bowl rings in the 1970s.

Noll was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1993.
