Things were going so well for the UCLA secondary Wednesday that even defensive backs coach Demetrice Martin intercepted a pass.

Defensive back Ishmael Adams lost his footing during a one-on-one drill, with the pass deflecting off his leg. Martin dived to snag the ball.

“I’ll be in the training room all day tomorrow,” Martin said.

It was a harbinger of things to come. During a 10-minute stretch in team drills, Bruins defensive backs made life miserable for quarterback Mike Fafaul.

Jaleel Wadood intercepted a deflected pass. That was followed by interceptions by Adams, Octavius Spencer and DeChaun Holiday.

Holiday and Spencer, both freshmen, have had a strong training camp, Holiday as a cornerback and Spencer as a safety.
