Rose Tree Festival

When, where: April 1 and 2, throughout Tombstone

Highlights: The world’s largest rose tree, the Lady Banks — planted in 1886 and covering more than 8,000 square feet — will be in bloom as festivities unfold. The Old West town also crowns a rose queen, holds a parade and hosts mariachi music and folklorico dancers.

Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Festival

Highlights: This eco- and family-friendly event offers information on recycling, composting, alternative energy and more via a variety of green vendors. Also: a “trashion” show, film festival, bluegrass and funk bands, raffles and kids’ activities.

Pebble Beach Food & Wine

When, where: April 28-May 1, Pebble Beach resorts

Highlights: The Monterey Peninsula’s signature food-and-wine event brings together about 200 vintners and 30 chefs, including Tom Colicchio, Guy Fieri, Jacques Pepin, Charlie Trotter, Gary Danko, Nancy Silverton, Joachim Splichal and Sherry Yard for tastings, cooking demos, presentations, book signings and dinners.
