Hey couch surfers, why not travel with your own couch?

There may be no better traveler’s friend than an inflatable couch you can take just about anywhere. Really. Lightweight and portable, this pod-like blow-up could come in handy whether you’re couch-surfing with a friend or in a stranger’s home.

The Lamzac Hangout, as it’s called, was created in the Netherlands about five years ago and marketed by Fatboy online since last year. It was a big hit too, causing some supply problems in January, its Facebook page says.

The ripstop nylon couch weighs just 2.6 pounds (about the same as a one-person lightweight tent) and folds up into its own little pack. It self inflates (and deflates) in 30 seconds to roughly 80 inches long, according to the online product description.

The Lamzac comes in a variety of solid colors and a camouflage print. It costs $79.

Now startup Cozy Couch takes the basic design and adds about 25 print designs — flying pizza slices, bananas, the U.S. flag and the California flag, among others.

Cozy Couch plans to launch as an Indiegogo campaign at 8 a.m. Pacific time Monday (the link won’t work until then). The couches will be available by preorder for $59; custom designs will set you back $250. And they won’t be widely available until December, according to a news release.
