Author John Rechy and his husband, film producer Michael Ewing, have listed their Hollywood Hills home of more than a decade for sale at $2.247 million.

Found within gated Lake Hollywood Estates, the two-story traditional was built in 1968 and has been renovated. Obsidian black granite countertops, light maple floors, modern fixtures and an Art Deco staircase set a sophisticated tone.

The 2,684 square feet of interior space includes a two-story foyer, formal living and dining rooms, an updated kitchen and a family room. French doors off the common areas open to a patio and surrounding grounds.

The chef’s kitchen features Wolf and Miele appliances and a breakfast bar. There’s also a 150-bottle wine fridge and wet bar.

There are five bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, including two master suites, each with a fireplace and custom closet. A guest bedroom has a separate entrance.

Views of Griffith Park and the Hollywood sign form the backdrop for tall palms, gardens and rolling lawns. A three-car garage sits off the entrance to the home.

The house last changed hands in 2003 for $774,000, records show.

Terry Canfield-Schmidt and Rose Ware of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties hold the listing.

Rechy is an essayist and novelist known for such works as “City of Night,” “The Miraculous Day of Amalia Gomez” and “The Sexual Outlaw.”
