A 1960s Midcentury home in Adams Hill, built in the shape of an H by architect Richard Banta, has sold for $972,000, up considerably from its October list price of $899,000.

The alphabet-inspired architecture was Banta’s solution for the property’s steep, sloping lot. Built on a hill, the H’s lower open section serves as a front entrance and carport, and the upper section is an outdoor patio overlooking the mountains of Glendale.

A yellow front door leads residents into an entryway filled with floor-to-ceiling windows. Floors of black slate and maple hardwood line 1,218 square feet of living space, which includes a remodeled kitchen with Caesarstone countertops, a living area with a remote-controlled projector movie screen, and an updated powder room.

Midcentury flairs include retro pendant lights over the breakfast bar and clerestory windows.

Sliding glass doors in the master bedroom, one of two bedrooms, provide access to the deck. Rolling shades on the floor-to-ceiling windows allow for sleepy mornings.

Chris Jacobs of Keller Williams Beverly Hills was the listing agent. Brian K. Courville of John Aaroe Group represented the buyer.

Records show the home last sold in 2011 for $565,000.
