Roomy seats, no security hassles on new charter flights from Burbank to Mammoth

Charter airline JetSuiteX will offer seasonal flights from Burbank to Mammoth Lakes from Dec. 15 to April 3. Flights start at $129 one-way and will operate Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday.

It’s roughly the same cost as a flight on Alaska Airlines from LAX but without the travel hassles (more on that later). Flights will depart from Bob Hope Airport’s Hangar 2 at 4:15 p.m. and return at 5:45 p.m. from the Mammoth Yosemite Airport.

By the way, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area plans to open Nov. 10. And there are many ways to fly there. Check out the resort’s Air Travel options online.

But because JetSuiteX is classified as a public charter airline, there’s less hassle flying on one of its jets. That’s because there are no security lines, no terminal delays and no long waits, according to a JetSuiteX announcement. With departures from a private terminal, passengers need to arrive only 30 minutes before takeoff.

Moreover, because public charter flights are limited to 30 passengers, the Embraer E135s that JetSuiteX flies have seven fewer seats than other regional carriers that use the same type of planes.

That’s a bonus for tall skiers and snowboarders because fewer seats means more legroom, which JetSuiteX says is comparable to most airline’s business class seats. In addition, there’s free in-flight WiFi and entertainment, free checked bags and free drinks and snacks.

JetSuiteX also offers service from Burbank to Las Vegas, San Jose and Concord, Calif.
